Editors and Trainers of the Investigative Reporting Initiative in the Americas

Daniel Santoro Argentinian journalist specialized in investigation of corruption cases. Currently, he is politics editor of Clarín and member of the National Academy of Journalism. He teaches techniques of investigative journalism at the Master of Clarín and the Foundation New Iberoamerican Journalism (FNPI in Spanish). Santoro received the King of Spain Prize for his investigation on traffic of Argentine arms to Ecuador and Croatia, sent to jail former President Carlos Menem. He has received major endorsements, including Maria Moors Cabot of the Columbia University (USA), and Transparency International and IPYS Prize. In 2010 UNESCO named him Jury Member of the World Press Freedom Award.

sierra150px Jorge Luis Sierra Jorge Luis Sierra is a former Knight International Journalism Fellow, who works in the development of digital tools to investigate crime and corruption. Jorge Luis coordinates the Digital and Mobile Security Program for Bloggers and Journalists, supported by Freedom House, the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and the Knight Foundation. Jorge Luis is a Mexican journalist specialized in security and defense. He covered the war in Iraq and is author of ‘The Domestic Enemy: Armed Forces and Counterinsurgency in Mexico’, among other chapters and books on security and defense.    

reyna150px Ignacio Rodríguez Reyna Mexican Journalist specialized in planning and management of media organizations. He is one of the founders and board member of the Center for Investigative Journalists and the Unit of Special Reports of El Financiero. With over 25 years experience, he was editor and reporter of the Unit of Special Reports of Reforma Newspaper, editor in chief of Milenio Magazine, and Deputy Director of El Universal newspaper. He is currently director of the prestigious Mexican magazine Emeequis, which under his leadership has been recognized with the King of Spain Journalism Award in 2011 and 2012, and the Ortega y Gasset Award in 2012, among others.

  xanic150px Alejandra Xanic von Bertrab Mexican investigative journalist with over twenty years experience. She was awarded with the Pulitzer Prize in the category of Investigative Journalism for his joint work with David Barstow on the Wal-Mart billionaire bribery case in Mexico, published in The New York Times in 2012. Xanic has covered issues related to drug trafficking, corruption, political killings and human rights. She has worked in several Mexican media such as Siglo21, Reforma, Milenio, Cambio, Gatopardo, Expansión and National Geographic.
